Job Description:

This position processes wheat into flour and feed products. The position is staffed six to seven days per week, twenty-four hours per day on a two or three shift basis. Successful candidates will be willing to work overtime, weekends and call back when needed. Also exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Valid CDL is required
  • Extremely warm in the summer months with high noise levels and high powered milling equipment, which includes extensive use of equipment for pneumatically conveying flour.
  • Must adhere to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
  • Have the ability to work both supervised and unsupervised at times
  • Basic understanding of computers, math comprehension and previous plant environment is helpful
  • Must have the ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs. bend, kneel, crawl, stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, work with heights, and work in hot and cold temperatures and a dusty environment for extended periods of time
  • Exhibit good work habits, including excellent attendance and individual productivity.

Job Requirements:

  • Have the ability to fill out various safety work permits and work in a safe manner.
  • Conduct shift transition and huddle meetings on a daily basis.
  • Actively attend all safety training and meetings and pass associated tests as required.
  • Objective: Ensure a safe working environment for both employees and visitors.
  • Set proper flour blend to meet customer specifications.
  • Understand flour loading schedule and make adjustments throughout the course of the shift as the loading plan changes.
  • Be able to follow mill production schedule and load trucks accordingly to insure the mill has storage bins available for future production runs.
  • Monitor various processing parameters and insure equipment is set properly to pneumatically convey flour from silos to truck.
  • Able to plan time and keep two independent loading systems running at peak performance. Forward planning is an essential skill in this role.
  • Able to prioritize feed and flour loading to most efficiently utilize available time.
  • Able to understand all phases of loading and unloading pneumatic vessels.
  • Able to understand and manage a complex blending system using a touch screen (PLC controlled) or similar HMI device.
  • Assess current operating conditions and make process adjustments as needed to keep critical product specifications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new jobs.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure bulk flour loading is done efficiently and to insure customers get what they ordered when they want it
  • Participate with maintenance personnel when equipment failures occur.
  • Have the ability to trouble shoot potential process/machine problems before they become critical.
  • Able to do weekly sifter check to insure product integrity.
  • Have the ability to understand direction and accomplish detailed tasks.
  • Take direction from warehouse supervisor for preventive maintenance practices.
  • Objective: Optimize warehouse/loading systems efficiency to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Monitor and control integrity of finished flour; perform per load magnet checks; per load paperwork; daily policeman screen checks, and document all rebolt sifter inspections and repairs.
  • Comply with all HACCP/FS22000 procedures while maintaining master cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure a quality product through systematic procedures.
  • Sampling flour from each vessel loaded or unloaded.
  • Understand blending procedures to mix flour and meet specification of customers.
  • Able to perform all lab tests as determined necessary by Management.
  • Full understanding of electronic bill of lading process.
  • Understand and operate systems within quality parameters.
  • Objective: Transport a food safe product that meets the specifications of the customer.
  • Follow proper master sanitation and all cleaning procedures within all areas.
  • Keep flour vessels clean and sanitary.
  • Periodically wash/clean yard tractors.
  • Control and maintain required housekeeping standards.
