Job Description

Modern Staffing is hiring for an experienced forklift driver/operator to work as a Material Handler for a precision manufacturing company located in New Braunfels and Seguin.


Our top candidates will have the work experience listed below, including forklift certification and operating with Safety in mind. The opportunity also requires a candidate to work some days at the Seguin headquarters, and some days at the New Braunfels location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safely move the correct amount of materials or products for production and shipment
  • Properly move products and materials for shipment or production.
  • Verify that the correct part or material and amount are being moved to the correct location.
  • Pull parts from stock in first-in, first-out method.
  • Identify all parts in inventory and maintain inventory paperwork.
  • Complete all internal paperwork required for movement and inventory.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counts.
  • Assist with loading coils for production.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
  • Observe safe working practices, rules and regulations; wear all safety equipment as required, corrects and reports hazards immediately, keep hands out of dies; and actively participates in and supports all company safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Completes company required training programs assigned by the Plant Manager and participates in optional training programs provided by the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.
  • Recommends quality, safety, and productivity improvements to management.

EDUCATION

Prefer high school graduate or GED

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer one (1) year material handling experience.
  • Special Knowledge and Skills:
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills
  • *Forklift experience and certification required*

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and frequently push and pull over 100 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, handle, finger, feel, use eye-hand coordination, stoop; kneel, crouch, twist upper
  • body and infrequently climb
  • Ability to demonstrate near and far acuity and depth perception.
  • Ability to use senses of hearing and touch.

MENTAL AND INTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Average ability to think and reason, solve problems, apply speed and accuracy, and solve math problems; low ability to read
  • with speed and accuracy and reason mechanically.
  • Average interpersonal skills, oral communication and organizational skills, and low written communication skills.
  • Ability to read work orders, pick tickets, and follow handling directions.
  • Ability to write inventory paperwork and logs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work scheduled shifts and overtime as it arises.
  • Perform work in manufacturing plant and/or adjoining and related work areas.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme heat, extreme noise, mechanical hazards, vibration hazards and moving equipment (i.e. cranes
  • and forklifts) and occasional exposure to outdoor work, electrical hazards and fume/odor hazards.

Forklift, pallet jack, and shrink wrapper.

  • Under direct supervision of the Materials Manager.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday

7:00AM – 3:30PM

PAY RANGE

$14 - $15/hr (DOE)
