JOB SUMMARY
The Grant Accountant is responsible for working with the Director of Finance to manage and maintain timely, accurate financial records and grants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Grant and Fund Management:
- Oversee financial administration of grants, ensure accurate allocation, tracking, and reporting of funds in compliance with grantor and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and oversee processes for tracking restricted and unrestricted funds to ensure proper financial stewardship.
- Work closely with Program Managers to monitor grant spending, ensure funds are used efficiently and in accordance with Funding Agreements.
- Prepare invoices and request payments to funding agencies; reconcile grant expenses; identify grant issues and communicate with stakeholders.
- Assist Department Managers with their budgets, prepare financial statements, conduct grant audits and assessments; ensure contract condition compliance.
- Prepare and submit financial reports for grantors and funding agencies.
Finance:
- Maintain financial and accounting system controls to ensure timely reports to Director of Finance, CEO, Board of Directors, and Grantors.
- Cross-train and serve as a back-up for the Director of Finance including Payroll, AP/AR, General Ledger, and bank account activities as needed.
- Helps with monthly Close Activities as needed, including journal entry preparation, bank account reconciliation, variance analysis, and other tasks required for proper General Ledger maintenance according to GAAP.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a strategic and operational mindset to ensure that grants are managed effectively and efficiently, supporting overall non-profit agency mission.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, non-profit accounting, fund accounting, and grant administration and compliance.
- Experience with managing restricted and unrestricted funds, government grants, and donor-restricted contributions.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business Administration) is preferred.

9:00AM – 6:00PM Monday-Friday (OT may be required)
PAY RANGE
$55-$65k/annual (based on experience and qualifications)
