Modern Staffing is recruiting for a sensitive professional Overnight Resident Aide for a non-profit located in New Braunfels, TX:
JOB SUMMARY
The Overnight Shelter Case Aide is a service-minded leader dedicated to meeting the ongoing and daily needs of clients in a domestic violence, sexual assault, and homeless shelter. In this role you serve as a Client Advocate at all times, providing in-take support, crisis intervention, direct care, and support services in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with the ability to find ways to say “yes” to clients, consults effectively with Supervisors, and ensures a warm and supportive transition for all clients. The Overnight Shelter Case Aide must also be open to giving and receiving constructive feedback with a goal of continuous learning and professional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekend, overnight, and holiday shifts as assigned.
- Respond immediately and appropriately to all crisis calls, creating a safe, warm, and inviting space for callers and clients to discuss their personal trauma.
- Provide safety planning and basic family violence education to callers and shelter clients.
- Communicate with leadership to arrange emergency transportation for incoming clients admitted to the shelter.
- Coordinate with the Case Manager to determine the best time and person to manage client intake and support clients/families through the process.
- Provide ongoing crisis intervention and support for shelter residents.
- Conduct daily House Meetings, assign chores, and facilitate shelter orientation groups for new clients.
- Arrange transportation for clients as needed.
- Support clients in setting and achieving daily and weekly goals, in coordination with Case Manager.
- Help organize and maintain shelter supply areas and common spaces.
- Ensure smooth shelter operations, including adherence to policies, maintaining a calm environment, supporting client appointments, and assisting with client participation in group meetings.
- Assist in coordinating a daily schedule of activities for all shelter clients.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation for all client files; complete forms and reports as required by supervisors.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and case review meetings.
- Prioritize confidentiality for all communications regarding clients and the agency.
OTHER DUTIES
- Carry out or assist with other client care tasks as needed in accordance with agency philosophy.
- Uphold the agency's mission, vision, and goals in all aspects of work.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and client management (CRM) data-entry required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related social services field preferred.
- Equivalent experience considered.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, social work theory, ethics, and family violence theory preferred.
- Experience working with unhoused populations and understanding community impacts preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in a social service environment preferred.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Strong verbal communication skills; ability to speak effectively before groups.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous, client-focused manner (“customer is right” approach).
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve complex problems and deal with standardized situations involving concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Texas Driver's License required.
- Proof of automobile liability insurance required.
- First Aid and CPR certification required (can be completed after hire under agency guidance).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and telephone contact.
- Occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

PAY RANGE $22-$26/hr depending on experience (Temporary Position)
SHIFT 11:00PM - 7:00AM (5 days a week TBD) (must be available weekends & Holidays as needed)
