Job Description

Modern Staffing is recruiting for a Structural Fabricator & TIG/ARC Welder for a custom fabrication company located in San Marcos, TX:
STRUCTURAL FABRICATOR & TIG/ARC WELDER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fabrication & Welding Duties:
  • Bend, cut, and shape rebar to create sculptural and structural frames according to project specifications and designs.
  • Perform TIG and arc welding on steel and other metal components per project requirements and blueprints.
  • Assemble and weld metal parts to create frames, supports, and other 3D structural elements for GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) projects.
  • Weld rebar to structural frames to ensure stability and alignment of sculptures.
  • Inspect and test welded joints to ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements.
  • Apply lath over rebar frames and clad in EPS (expanded polystyrene) foam.
General Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and team members to understand project requirements and provide input on fabrication and welding techniques.
  • Maintain fabrication and welding equipment in good working condition and report any necessary repairs.
  • Use heavy machinery, including telehandlers, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored and maintained.
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of materials and work areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of fabrication and welding activities, including time, materials used, and project progress.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in welding and fabrication preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in rebar bending and welding, including TIG and Arc welding, in a construction or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of rebar fabrication, welding techniques, materials, and structural integrity.
  • Experience with heavy machinery such as forklifts, telehandlers, and scissor lifts.
  • Physical ability to perform fabrication and welding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to welding and construction.
PAY RANGE: $18 - $19/HR (depending on experience)
