Job Description

Modern Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Quality Assurance Inspector for a precision tool & die manufacturing company in New Braunfels, TX:

JOB SUMMARY

  • Perform inspections to verify acceptable products for all manufacturing operations.
  • Perform receiving inspection and test of purchased materials and services.
  • Perform final inspections on completed products
  • Verify SPC (statistical process control) inspection to verify that processes are in control and complete SPC charts.
  • Collect, record and analyze data.
  • Isolate and record manufacturing defects.
  • Complete all inspection records and reports.
  • Assist Quality Manager with training company employees on quality standards.
  • Identify all products as acceptable or rejected.
  • Verify gage calibration.
  • Maintain work area according to plant housekeeping standards.
  • Observe safe working practices, rules and regulations; wear all safety equipment as required, corrects and reports hazards immediately, keeps hands out of dies; and actively participates in and supports all company safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Completes company required training programs assigned by the Quality Manager and participates in optional training programs provided by the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Recommends quality, safety, and productivity improvements to supervisors and plant management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer one (1) year inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with precision measuring tools including: Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Height Gauges, Protractors, Angle Gauges, Pin Gauges, Thread Gauges, Hardness Testers, Scales, and other inspection equipment as necessary.
  • Requires High School graduate or GED.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform work in manufacturing fabrication plant and/or adjoining or related work areas.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme heat, noise, mechanical hazards, vibration hazards, and moving equipment (cranes, pallet jacks, & forklifts).
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor work, electrical hazards and fumes or odor hazards.
  • Above average ability to think and reason, solve problems, apply speed and accuracy, solve math problems, read with speed and accuracy, reason mechanically and use three-dimensional skills.
  • Above average interpersonal skills; average oral communication and organizational skills, written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read cosmetic specifications, diagrams, operating instructions, SPC Trend and visual inspection charts.
  • Ability to write SPC and visual charts, labor sheets and scrap tally sheets.
  • Ability to apply basic arithmetic operations and counting parts and rejects.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 20 pounds and infrequently push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, handle, finger, feel and use eye-hand coordination; occasionally stoop; and infrequently climb, kneel, crouch and twist upper body.
  • Ability to demonstrate near and far acuity and depth perception.
  • Ability to use senses of hearing and touch.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Complete company inspection tool training program, when required.
  • Pass inspector qualification program within probationary period.
  • Must Speak and understand English or enroll in English Speaking Language classes within 3 months of hire.

SHIFT: 1st Shift 6:00AM – 2:30PM (overtime as needed)

LOCATION: New Braunfels

PAY RANGE: $17-$20/hr
