Job Description

Modern Staffing is seeking an experienced TIG Welder/Fabricator for a manufacturing company located in San Marcos, TX:

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform fabrication of company design components, standard elements and sub-assemblies. Duties include: drilling, tapping, bending, grinding, sanding, measuring, brazing, welding, cutting and polishing. Processes include: torch and plasma cutting, TIG/MIG Welding, machine-powered operations. Final assembly and testing of the completed fixtures is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Measure and align workpieces using straightedges, clamps, and calipers.
  • Fill ducts with water/air and submerge in water to identify pipe leakage.
  • Ensure compliance with established health/safety policies and regulations.
  • Carry out grinding and thermal cutting operations to obtain various textures and sizes for metal parts.
  • Oversee the set-up of TIG and/or MIG welding equipment.
  • Operate power and hand tools such as arc welders, buffing machine, grinders, and scrapers.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the welding characteristics of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, schematics, and codes.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and repair of piping systems and metal structures.
  • Ensure welding operations meet set specifications and construction requirements.
  • Perform TIG welding on materials such as iron and copper.
  • Adhere to all Safety and OSHA policies.

    REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • TIG Welding: 3 years minimum required.
    • Technical Skill: Experience operating gas and non-gas welding devices.
    • Measurement Skill: Must be proficient in using various measurement tools to establish the configuration or position of a welding plan.
    • Problem-Solving Skill: Must be proficient in assessing metal structures to identify and initiate repairs of damaged welds.
    • Welding Certificate and High School or equivalent.

    SHIFT:
    8-Hour Shift
    Monday - Friday
    7:00am - 3:30pm

    PAY RATE:
    $24/HR
