Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified TIG Welding/Machining Production Supervisor for a manufacturing company located in New Braunfels, TX:

Job Summary:

The Weldin/Machining Team Lead is responsible for supervisory duties of welders.

Essential Duties:
  • Arrive daily, as scheduled, to familiarize and get in tune with current job status, Quality Control requirements, drawing issues, etc., that are on priority list.
  • Ensure welders are assigned jobs and working promptly at scheduled start time.
  • Pair up welders based on experience, needs, skill level to optimize output.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Quality Control on job priorities.
  • Check parts to drawing requirements prior to fit up; check welding fit up is per drawing.
  • Ensure welders are familiar/aware of all welding requirements for assembly, i.e., welding procedures & addenda, PMI, special weld filler & log books, tolerances, etc.
  • Assign and delegate appropriate subassemblies to oscillating MiG/TiG machines and sub-arcs, to automate welding to the fullest extent possible.
  • Coordinating with other Team Leads and Production Management.
  • Review drawings and bill of materials for paint requirements and order as needed to meet production and shipping schedule.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Review labor reports for accuracy, ensure hours are charged to correct jobs, document corrections/changes, sign off and submit to Human Resources/Payroll daily.
  • Document attendance, tardiness/late arrivals and early departures utilizing the Leave Request System for all personnel.
  • Bring performance and productivity issues, personnel behavior concerns, etc. to the attention of the Manufacturing Manager and Director - Human Resources.
  • Participate in counseling/disciplinary discussions.
  • Submit written or email updated priority list before leaving for next shift Team Lead.
  • Ensure scrap tickets are written, followed through and rework travelers issued.
  • Ensure employees clean work areas prior to leaving shift.
  • Ensure all weld wire is returned to Tool Room at end of shift.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • Working knowledge of welding and metal fabrication with minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
