Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified experienced Manual Machinist for a local manufacturing company in Seguin, TX:
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to set up and operate metal fabrication equipment, such as setting up threading on a manual lathe machine to create products or structures by cutting, bending, and assembling metal materials and other shop-related duties as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, sample parts sketches and related technical data.
- Mount, align and secure tooling, attachments and work piece on machine as necessary to complete the task at hand in a safe manner.
- Select and install the necessary cutting tool in the machine to complete the task at hand.
- Set up and operate metal working machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, saws, broaching machines and other miscellaneous machines related to a machine shop environment.
- Machine parts to specifications and verify conformance to those specifications utilizing precision measuring instruments.
- Evaluate procedures and machine setups; recommend changes or modifications for efficiency, adaptability and safety purposes.
- Monitor the running condition of machines and repair.
- Always maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- MIG and stick welding capabilities are a plus.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in operating metal fabrication machinery and one year experience threading a manual lathe REQUIRED.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- Must have setup experience threading a lathe machine (at least 5 years experience).
- Attentive to detail; Good planning and time management skills.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings and engineering documentation.
- Skill in performing basic reading, mathematical calculations and using precise measuring devices.
- Valid Texas driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to understand and operate mechanical systems and various shop machinery/equipment.
- Must be skilled in using devices such as hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and frequently push and/or pull over 100 pounds.
- Work involves frequent periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching or bending at the waist.
- Ability to withstand frequent exposure to heat, noise, mechanical hazards, vibration hazards and and exposure to outdoor work.

8-Hour Shift
Monday - Friday
7:30am - 4:30pm
PAY RANGE:
$20-$24/HR (Depends On Experience)
