Designer/Drafter

Modern Staffing is seeking an experienced Designer/Drafter for a manufacturing company located in New Braunfels, TX:

Job Summary:

Design custom expansion joints for piping systems using established standards. Provide technical assistance to the production and quality department to ensure that parts are in compliance with standards, codes, and customer specifications.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare production drawings. Assess and provides sufficient product views and details to communicate information and or data needed for fabrication. Work closely with all departments to ensure that the drawing convey the correct information and are error free.
• Check for hardware and liner interference using scale views and animation (covers, monitor ports, lugs, nozzles, gimbal rings, etc.) Recommend or make dimensional adjustments as necessary.
• Consider manufacturability issues. Is there room for a welder to make weld? Is there access to make each weld?
• Prepare and check calculations, drawing and documentation that support compliance.
• Recommend and implement changes to resolve conformance issues. Communicate changes or problems resulting in deviations from what was sold or specified. Conference with customer and/or internal personnel as needed to discuss design problem area and to ensure that the products meet all requirements. Work from customer supplied drawing and specifications, as well as companies' quotation and Sales order.
• Manage several products at one time.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be an expert in Solidworks.
• Associates Degree in CAD/Design or 5 years relevant experience.
• 1 year drawing/designing specific product experience.
• Must be able to read, interpret, and use various code standards and customer-supplied documentation.
• Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
• Computer literate in CAD and Microsoft Office.
